What is it?
Bacon bandages are standard adhesive bandages printed to look like strips of bacon. They're made by BioSwiss and come 50 to a tin in a reusable metal container. Each bandage is individually wrapped, latex-free, and has an absorbent non-stick pad — the same construction as any regular bandage. The only difference is the design. The bacon print is detailed enough that people do a double-take when they see one on your finger. Current price on Amazon is around $8–$10 for the tin.
My experience
I bought these as a stocking stuffer and ended up keeping a tin for myself. I'd seen them online for years but never actually used one.
The tin is nicer than I expected — it feels solid, not flimsy. The bandages inside are individually wrapped and look exactly like the product photos. The bacon print is surprisingly detailed: you can see the marbling, the color variation, the slight curve of a real strip.
I used one on a paper cut. It stuck well, stayed on through hand washing, and came off cleanly without pulling. Functionally, it's just a bandage. But I caught myself looking at my hand and smiling, which is not something that happens with regular bandages.
The funniest moment: I wore one to a meeting and someone noticed mid-conversation. The meeting derailed for about two minutes while everyone looked at it. That's either a pro or a con depending on how you feel about meetings.
Honest pros
- ✓Actually works as a bandage — adhesive holds, non-stick pad protects the wound
- ✓Latex-free, so safe for people with latex sensitivities
- ✓The bacon print is detailed and convincing — people genuinely do a double-take
- ✓50 bandages in a reusable tin is good value for a novelty item
- ✓Consistently gets a reaction — kids, adults, coworkers, everyone notices
Honest cons
- ✗Not waterproof — they loosen with prolonged water exposure like any standard bandage
- ✗Standard size only — not suitable for larger cuts or wounds
- ✗Some people find the bacon imagery off-putting, especially in food-adjacent contexts
Verdict
This is a 4/5. It's a functional bandage with a funny design, and the combination works better than you'd expect. The novelty doesn't wear off quickly — people still notice and comment even after you've had them for months.
Buy it if you want a gag gift that's actually useful, or if you want to make minor injuries slightly less miserable for kids. Skip it if you need waterproof bandages or something for larger wounds.
